Habitat for Humanity International is seeking a Director of Next Generation Volunteering. Reporting to the Senior Director of Volunteer and Institutional Engagement Division, the Director of Next Generation Volunteering will serve as a pillar lead and subject matter expert in mainstreaming volunteering solutions into Habitat’s core programs. In doing so, the role is expected to support Habitat’s global network to deliver high impact volunteering initiatives, enabling shift towards volunteering in development, particularly in the global housing sector and ensuring sustainability of housing programs that engage volunteers.
The Director is responsible for situating Habitat’s approach to volunteering in the wider ‘volunteering in development’ sector, working proactively with external actors and fostering relationships and collaborations with other organizations that work through volunteering in development, to increase learning and mutual understanding.
The Director works proactively with area offices to articulate and adopt a broader concept of volunteerism and grow existing momentum of volunteering initiatives designed locally. As a member of the divisional leadership team, this position will ensure impactful and responsible engagement of people and communities through volunteering to build, influence and catalyze change in the housing ecosystem around the globe.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

**Foundational/Overarching Function. Serve as the lead in the design and execution of strategic initiatives related to volunteering for development at a regional and global level and manage resources to meet program effectiveness. Ensure sub-departments (transformative volunteering, youth volunteering and community volunteering) have clear plans and objectives. Provide oversight, advisory support and management coordination in the design, implementation and strengthening of volunteering solutions for effective programming and increased program impact.

**External Positioning/Partnerships/Public Engagement /Fundraising Function. Enhance alignment and partnerships to strengthen volunteer programs and to help position Habitat for Humanity as a thought leader in the field of volunteerism and housing. This may include developing relationships with key external stakeholders and other organizations working in volunteering for development for mutual learning, and to begin to situate Habitat’s volunteering work within that sector. Lead on fundraising opportunities that emerge as a result of this work.

**Internal Leadership/Influencing/ROI Function. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate volunteerism into housing related development programming (i.e. non-constructional), build the organization’s experience in volunteering for development and achieve positive return on investment.

**Network Coordination/Convener Function. Provide specialist support and work proactively with area offices, affiliated teams and national organizations to increase understanding and capacity in tapping people and communities through volunteering, and ensure innovative approaches are piloted and scaled up, where appropriate, with emphasis on transformative volunteering, youth and community engagement. Build understanding across Habitat on the role of volunteering in sustainable development.

**People Management Function. Establish criteria, indicators, and goals for performance excellence of all line reports. Routinely conduct performance reviews and manage individual and team performance accordingly, including but not limited to nurturing leadership, management, and technical expertise among staff, identifying and supporting opportunities for career advancement, and offering mentorship, coaching or other supports, as required. Champion, foster, embrace of and adherence to HFHI diversity, equity and inclusion commitments. Devise individual development plans and ensure proper resourcing and follow through. Ensure compliance with company policy, including observance of HFHI guiding principles and desirable behaviors, as well as compliance with procedures and respect for internal deadlines.

**Divisional Strategy Development Function. Contribute to ongoing identification of strategic priorities, and strategy development for the Volunteer and Institutional Engagement division, taking an active part in meetings and the development of drafts as appropriate.

  • Minimum Requirements:
**Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
**Years of Related Experience: 10 or more years’ experience in volunteer engagement/volunteer programming in a variety of settings.

Qualifications:
**Strategic thinker with strong background in partnership development, government relations and advocacy
**Successful supervisory and team building skills, team player
**Excellent organizational and administrative skills
**Fluency in English
**Excellent oral and written communication skills.
**Excellent training and mentoring skills
**Ability to work and live in cross-cultural setting
**Experience in developing partnerships with volunteer-oriented organizations, including churches
**Demonstrated experience in implementing a successful volunteer development program and proven record of success in raising funds through such programs
**Field experience in managing volunteer programs required

Preferred Requirements (in addition to minimum):
**Master’s degree preferred.
**Knowledge of Habitat’s worldwide mission preferred.

For work locations in the Philippines, the salary range for this position is PHP 3,240,300 to 4,860,500. The target hiring salary range for this position is PHP 264,834-295,991 per 13-month factor.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience.
